Cask Le Sens Hygge #2 & #3 (Duo Set) Caol Ila+ Peated Lowland

Created by Cask Le Sens founders Winnie and Richard in collaboration with celebrated whisky ambassador Shilton Almeida, the Hygge series embodies the whisky profiles and drinking rituals we cherish most. It is a project that transcends the glass to embrace an entire philosophy of living.

Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, an ineffable sense of warmth and contentment, this collection reimagines whisky as a companion to life's most meaningful moments. Hygge transforms drinking into living: each label illustrates the unique character of the spirit alongside the specific moments in which all three most enjoy it.

It is an invitation to slow down, to find extraordinary pleasure in simple acts, and to elevate a quiet dram into an act of contemplation: savouring not just the liquid, but the joy of being present.

The second release of the Hygge Series arrives as a paired set, inviting whisky lovers on a unique comparative journey. By pairing two fundamentally different styles of peated Scotch: an elegant Islay icon and an intense, peated Lowlander. Both matured in identical cask profiles, this duo explores the clear comparison between regional peat styles, spirit age, and wood interaction.

Both expressions feature the intense influence of 1st fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) Quarter Casks. The reduced size of a quarter cask increases the spirit-to-wood ratio, accelerating extraction and delivering rich, dark fruit and sweetness to complement the smoke.

Hygge #2: This Caol Ila is double matured with a 5.5-year finish in 1st fill PX Quarter Cask. The extended secondary maturation builds harmony, layering refined coastal smoke over rich sherry sweetness without overpowering the distillery’s delicate, maritime character.

Hygge #3: Lowland whisky is rarely associated with heavy peat, making this release from Scotland’s historic southernmost distillery even more unique. This heavily peated Lowlander performs well beyond its 4-year age statement. Despite its youth, it exhibits the depth and composure of a much older whisky, with none of the rawness typical of a young spirit. Fully matured in active a 1st fill PX Quarter Cask, the spirit has integrated seamlessly with the wood, delivering a remarkably heavy-hitting dram packed with dense dark wood, caramelized barbecue sauce, smoked bacon, and lingering savoury notes.
