Richard Wong
Director and Owner of Ruiseart Spirits
Co-Owner of Cask Le Sens & Whisky Concerto
Meet Richard, our Hong Kong native who traded the bustling streets of HK for the historic charm of Edinburgh back in 2022. With a computer engineering background and a highly-reputated Master's in Brewing & Distilling from Heriot-Watt University, he is become our go-to guy for sales, product management, finance, and pretty much any admin task that lands on his desk.
Richard's love affair with whisky began in 2012-2013 when Bowmore first captured his heart, and he has been hooked ever since. His current lineup of favourites reads like a Scottish distillery tour: Bowmore, Glen Elgin, Glengoyne, Glenkinchie, Glenury Royal, Lagavulin, and Littlemill, though he has got serious soft spots for Irish whiskeys and Chichibu too. When he is not sipping whisky, you will find him enjoying craft beers, wines, or the occasional sake.
Outside of the alcohol world, Richard is a proper geek in the best way possible – he is a Gundam fanatic who builds models with the precision of an engineer, a PlayStation lover, and an anime enthusiast. He is also glued to F1 races, cheers for Barcelona and Messi with unwavering loyalty, and burns through Netflix series like there is no tomorrow. Oh, and he is absolutely obsessed with Japanese food, culture, and cats!
Winnie Ng
Consultant of Ruiseart Spirits
Co-Owner of Cask Le Sens & Whisky Concerto
Here is Winnie, another Hong Kong export who made Finland her home in 2014. With over 20 years of commercial experience spanning the entire supply chain – from manufacturing to sales and marketing – she is basically our operations octopus (her words!). Armed with the same Master's in Brewing & Distilling from Heriot-Watt University plus WSET Level 3 qualifications in both wines and spirits, she handles pretty much everything except IT (she wisely leaves that to the experts).
Winnie's drinking repertoire is impressively diverse – wines, whiskies, rums, sake, and even mezcal and tequila find their way into her glass. While she has a special place in her heart for Balvenie, Bruichladdich, waxy Clynelish, Glengoyne, Imperial, St. Magdalene and Yoichi, she is not shy about enjoying peated whiskies either. Her whisky journey started in 2011 with an old bottling of Lagavulin 16 that completely won her over.
She shares Richard's passion for F1 and soccer, though she has been a proud Gunner since 1997 (sorry, Richard!). When she is not cheering for Arsenal, you will catch her watching women's volleyball, tennis, or any other sports event that's on. Winnie is also a serious perfume collector – apparently being passionate about one type of spirit is not enough! She loves pairing great food with perfect wines and is always planning her next travel adventure.
