Cask Le Sens Hygge #1 Benrinnes 2012 14 years old

Created by Cask Le Sens founders Winnie and Richard in collaboration with celebrated whisky ambassador Shilton Almeida, the Hygge series embodies the whisky profiles and drinking rituals we cherish most. It is a project that transcends the glass to embrace an entire philosophy of living.

Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, an ineffable sense of warmth and contentment, this collection reimagines whisky as a companion to life's most meaningful moments. Hygge transforms drinking into living: each label illustrates the unique character of the spirit alongside the specific moments in which all three most enjoy it.

It is an invitation to slow down, to find extraordinary pleasure in simple acts, and to elevate a quiet dram into an act of contemplation: savoring not just the liquid, but the joy of being present.

The inaugural release of the Hygge series comes from the Benrinnes Distillery in Speyside, named after the "Promontory Hill" situated in the heart of Moray.

This particular expression, however, offers a beautiful surprise. It stands apart from the typical floral and stone fruit notes usually found in the market, delivering instead a remarkably vibrant profile bursting with tropical fruits. This intensity has led us to look closer at its maturation: while the record mentions only a Hogshead, the sheer depth of flavour suggests something more—perhaps a First-fill or a Dechar/Rechar cask. It is a definitely intriguing start to our journey of discovery.
