About This Whisky

Cask Le Sens #3 Islay Single Malt 2009 15 years old

Description

As a distinguished cask broker specializing in premium whiskies and rums for independent bottlers and whisky enthusiasts, Cask Le Sens curates exceptional releases featuring rare and aged expressions. This marks our third carefully selected bottling- an unnamed single malt from the southern part of Islay, from a distillery whose name begins with 'A'.

This expression perfectly exemplifies classic Islay character of that distillery without the interference of overly active wood. The whisky delivers remarkable balance, harmonizing vibrant fruit notes with distinctive peat smoke while maintaining impressive complexity.

Despite its robust 57%+ abv., the whisky gives surprising smoothness- the alcohol integration is so seamless that the strength never dominates the palate. The experience culminates in an enduring finish where lingering peat smoke mingles with subtle wood-derived bitterness, creating a satisfying conclusion that invites contemplation.

This is whisky in its truest form- honest, uncompromising, and requiring no artificial enhancement. Sometimes the finest expressions need nothing more than time, careful selection, and respect for the distillery's original vision.

Distillery: Unnamed Islay Single Malt

Distilled: 22 Oct 2009

Bottled: 13 Jan 2025

Cask: Hogshead #220000002

Outturn: 40

(Joint-bottling with Rudder, another label for Japanese market)
